Nicole by OPI Modern Family Holiday 2013

Wow, it's been too long!  I swear I was going to post more frequently this month.  I think I'll start posting notds on my Instagram account, so that I can share more frequently without worrying about all the editing and writing.  So if you're not following me there, please do! :)

I'm also planning a holiday giveaway for you guys, so keep you're eyes peeled for that!  Speaking of holidays, let's talk about this new Modern Family collection. ^^

Late Blu-mer, 2 coats: dusty sky blue metallic-creme with subtle bright blue sparkles.  It's just slightly frosty because of the fine shimmer, but not too evidently.  I'm not a fan of frosts, but I personally liked this shade as it applied well without any brush strokes.  This color has great control when it flows from the brush, so you can get real close to your cuticles without much effort or mess.

Aren't Families Grape?, 2 coats: grape metallic with red shimmer.  The red shimmer is fine and more on the subtler side.  It adds a nice touch, but generally you're nails will be the color of luscious grapes.  The formula was excellent on this shade as well.

Who Red My Journal, 2 coats: metallic scarlet red with red-gold shimmer.  The gold aspect of the shimmer tends to come out more when you're nails are at an angle.  Overall, it's a very warm red shade that I can't help but be attracted to.

You're My Treasure, 1 coat over Aren't Families Grape?: clear based topper with gold holographic glitters in the shape of small and medium hexes, and large diamonds.  The glitters in this polish were well-behaved and easy to grasp.  The diamonds lay flat on my nails, which are fairly curved, so it shouldn't snag on hair or clothes.  As you can see, one coat does a pretty good job of covering the nails. :)

Spark The Conversation, 2 coats (pointer+middle) / 1 coat (ring+pinky) over Late Blu-mer: clear based layering glitter composed of small holographic silver squares.  This one was a bit meh for me.  As much as I love square glitters, I didn't like that they were all the same size.  It was also very base-y, so even at two coats it was a bit lacking.  Only one photo for this shade - sorry!  I think I accidentally deleted the others, but I have some bonus pics down below!

This is Late Blu-mer topped with Spark The Conversation and You're My Treasure.  I like how the two glitters look together much better. :)

Verdict:  Overall, I was pleased with how the solid shades performed.  The formula was spot on with great flow and control.  The colors, while not entirely unique, are still pretty without any flaws.  You're My Treasure was also easy to use.  The only color I would pass on is Spark The Conversation.

Availability:  This limited edition collection is currently available for $7.99 each at select CVS locations nationwide. For more information, visit nicolebyopi.com. Follow Nicole by OPI on Twitter @NicoleByOPI and become a Facebook fan!
